AGM Services organises a collection

Every year at Christmas Marie Edwards, AGM Services Business Operations Manager organises for a collection from the staff who would rather make monetary donations rather than sending Christmas Cards between each other. In addition to this Junair Spraybooths receive gifts from their suppliers to thank them for their business. It was decided, twelve years ago by the staff at Junair that instead of dividing the gifts out they would like to put them to good use. After much thought it was agreed that the gifts would be raffled off on the last trading day of the year and each year the money raised would be donated to a local charity. Junair’s Sales Office Manager, Elaine Butler volunteered to facilitate the event and to add to the fun Fiona Bradshaw AGM’s Operations Administrator and Elaine dress up in fancy dress to sell the tickets. To enhance the prizes, Agm Services, Junair Spraybooths and Workshop Solutions Directors also donate generous prizes. Prizes this year ranged from superb hampers of Champagne, chocolates, christmas cakes and puddings, an IPod docking station and bottles of whiskey, wine and tins and boxes of sweets. The total amount raised from the two ventures this year were £500 and will be donated to Springhill Hospice in Rochdale.

Why do we need a spray booth service provider?

Can’t anyone just clean a spray booth themselves? It must be pretty easy to change some filters or clean a fan right? Well, yes, in principle there are a number of good housekeeping items that all body shops should be aware of, but a good spray booth maintenance provider should offer more than simply the scheduled services. Who do you turn to for advice when your gas bill is much higher than you expected? Who do you rely on to get you a rush order of filters when you need them? Who can answer the questions or provide support when local Health & Safety Officers knock on the door looking for proof of Mist Clearance or LEV Testing, or copies of Breathing Air Quality Test certificates?

But most importantly, who can you rely on when you need them most? On those unfortunate days when a burner component fails or a mains power cut takes out a breaker in the control panel? Always when you have a line of cars ready to paint! An essential part of having a spray booth in your business is having someone reliable that you trust to support you when you need that booth installed, serviced, or upgraded. But it’s no good having someone reliable at the other end of the country. They need to be in your region, because you never know when you may need them.

Spray booth Ovens are a critical part of the Bodyshop, and a pretty permanent fixture. When choosing a supplier, make sure you look at the service and maintenance offer that goes along with it.
Quite rightly a lot of time and consideration goes into finding the right manufacturer for your spray booth equipment, as it’s a significant investment, especially in the current economic climate. The equipment needs to suit specific types of business productive requirements whilst ensuring operational costs are as low as possible considering the ever-increasing costs of electricity, gas and oil. There are other considerations such as the manufacturers ability to contract manage a project, where the product is manufactured, what components are used that all influence a decision.
But the equipment purchase and installation is just the start of it………….
If Spray booths are not maintained properly, they can develop problems and those problems can prove to be very expensive, far outweighing any initial savings on purchase price. In the same way that fuel efficiency of a car drops and tyres wear prematurely if you don’t check the pressure, if Spray booths fans are not cleaned or filters changed airflow efficiency and drying performance drops. Simple daily, weekly and monthly checks like extract filter changes, regular booth cleaning, and so on are critical to keep valuable equipment running as effectively as possible.

AGM Services Ltd and James Alpe

AGM Services Ltd, who runs a network of 10 spray booth service engineers across the UK, took delivery of a new van at the start of the month, and immediately sent it to mutual customer James Alpe Ltd. The Clitheroe based company provided the internal racking and also the livery on the outside of the van.

In 2010 James Alpe undertook a major redevelopment of it’s site, installing two new state of the art car spray booths from AGM Services parent company Junair Spraybooths. AGM Services have provided James Alpe with service and maintenance cover to the spray booths, as well as all COSHH, Mist Clearance and LEV Legislative Testing to existing body shop equipment since the project was complete.

AGM Services Sales Director, Wesley Young commented “The guys at James Alpe provide a great service. This is the 3rd service engineer’s van we have sent to them over the past 12 months. They tailored the internal racking design to suit our requirements that allows our service engineers to safely carry significantly more spray booth parts than conventional storage, which increases the chances of being able to rectify a spray booth breakdown on the first visit.”
