Apprentices complete year one with AGM Services

AGM Services Apprentices

AGM Services apprenticeship scheme has been very successful for the last 10 years having recruited valuable, long term committed employees. The individually tailored, on the job training forms career opportunities that can otherwise be tricky to recruit for. Apprenticeships are vital for the planned growth of the company, whilst also offering apprentices a valuable insight into the working environment, in tandem with providing them with recognised industry qualifications.

Training with AGM Services

James and Joseph joined AGM Services in the 2015 apprentice intake and have already proven to be valuable assets to the company. Their on the job training has so far consisted of building control panels, servicing spraybooth ovens, attending breakdowns, fault finding on site and assisting in mechanical remedial works. Having successfully completed the first year of their apprenticeship they have now completed modules in Health & Safety, hand fitting techniques, electrical maintenance and wiring and testing circuits. In addition to this they have completed coursework to augment their learning process.

The second year of the 3 year long apprenticeship will see them gaining further on the job training and becoming more competent in the workplace. Their day release course will require them to complete modules in communicating technical information, working effectively & efficiently in an engineering environment, wiring and maintaining electrical components and equipment in enclosures and selecting and preparing components for electrical assembly. James’ and Joseph’s progress will be closely monitored by their course tutor ensuring they are receiving the best training possible.

On completion of their apprenticeship, not only will James and Joseph have a good grounding in an engineering career but they will also gain a City & Guilds Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Systems & Equipment (Buildings, Structures and the Environment).

AGM Services Apprenticeships success

AGM Services most successful apprenticeship story is Rob Menzies, spraybooth commissioning and service engineer. Starting as an apprentice in 2004, Rob has progressed his career to become one of our most experienced and talented spraybooth service, maintenance and commissioning engineers. His dedication and commitment was clear from day one. Rob has been an integral part of the on the job training for our latest apprentices.

Rob Menzies commented “I started here over 12 years ago as an apprentice myself. I’m only too happy to help others in achieving what I have achieved. AGM Services offer constant training ensuring that I’m up to date with the latest technologies and ensure that my health and safety is always front of mind. I look forward to guiding James and Joseph through their second year at AGM Services.”

AGM Services Sales Director Wesley Young commented on the appointment of James and Joseph. “We have a long term vision for growth at AGM Services, and are really pleased with the progress James and Joseph have made in their first year. During our 22 years in business we’ve had a great deal of success investing in youth; hopefully these apprentices and others we intend to employ in the coming years will eventually become key members of our engineering team.”
