AGM Takes On New Apprentice Engineers

AGM has taken part in apprenticeship schemes for over 10 years now and it has proven a very valuable approach to recruiting, long term, committed employees. The bespoke on the job training can help to form career opportunities that can otherwise be tricky to recruit for, and is vital to continue the planned growth for the company.

AGMs most successful story is spraybooth service and maintenance engineer Rob Menzies, who started as an apprentice in 2004, now 11 years on Rob has progressed his career to become one of our most experienced and talented spray booth engineers. His commitment and dedication to his training was clear from day one, so much so that Rob will now be offering part of the on the job training for our latest apprentices.

Rob Menzies commented “I started here over 10 years ago as an apprentice myself. I’m only too happy to help others in achieving what I have achieved. AGM offer constant training ensuring that I’m up to date with the latest technologies and ensure that my health and safety is always front of mind. I look forward to showing James and Joseph the ropes and hopefully they’ll follow in my footsteps.”

IMGP1940James and Joseph will be required to assist AGM’s lead Engineers to carry out on the job training such as wiring, commissioning, breakdowns and fault finding. In addition to this they will have to attend college on day release to study various course modules including health and safety in the workplace. Course work will be required as well and James and Joseph’s progress will be closely monitored by their course tutor.

The apprenticeship is 3 years long and on completion, not only will they have a good grounding in an engineering career but they will also gain a BTEC Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. They’ll then progress to courses and training that will lead to GAS Safe qualifications that will in turn see them ready to lead their own spray booth service team.

IMGP1942AGM Sales Director Wesley Young commented on the appointment of James and Joseph. “We have a long term vision for growth at AGM Services, and are really pleased to be employing apprentices again. Over our 21 years in business we’ve had a lot of success investing in youth; hopefully these apprentices and others we intend to employ in the coming years will eventually become key members of our engineering team.

Our spraybooth engineers are some of the most highly qualified and skilled in the country, we pride ourselves on maintaining this by providing on-going training for all our engineers to keep them up to speed with latest Spraybooth developments as well as ongoing changes to COSHH legislation. These new apprenticeships are part of AGM’s commitment to continued growth and are two of several strategic appointments already in place this year. The aim is to further strengthen our existing national network of directly employed engineers, enabling us to maintain and improve the high levels of customer care and expeditious response which we are renowned for.”
